Sen. Rausch supports move to open golf courses

NEEDHAM, MA – The decision by Gov. Charlie Baker to open golf courses, with limitations, across the state was met with cheers by golfers from as far east as Highland Links in Truro to the northwest at the Taconic Golf Club in Williamstown.

State Senator Becca Rausch told North TV on Thursday she supports the move and the restrictions.

“My very first thought actually was of my father who has been an avid golfer as long as I can remember,” Rausch said.

The limitations prohibit the use of carts and caddies. Clubhouses, pro shops, restaurants, bag rooms and locker rooms must stay closed. Groups are restricted to no more than four players and golfers must stay in their cars until 15 minutes before their tee time and return to their cars immediately after their round.

Rausch also discussed the governor’s order to wear facemasks in public, remote meetings for the legislature, voting by mail in municipal elections, town meetings and other topics during her weekly interview for North TV’s “North Attleborough This Week” newscast.
