Free cash, capital projects presented to council

NORTH ATTLEBORO - Town Manager Michael Borg told members of the town council, during their meeting Wednesday night, that more than $5.5 million in free cash was certified by the state during a recent audit.

Borg’s plans for the money will now be reviewed by the town’s finance committee, which will then make a recommendation to the council for a vote.

The council later approved a pair of capital improvement projects.

Funding of $5.2 million was authorized through borrowing under the water enterprise account for the design and construction of polyfluoroalkyls (PFAs) removal and fluoride injections systems for the drinking water supply.

The second item approved by the council was the replacement of an ambulance for the fire department.
