Inaugural 5K raises $10K for charity

NORTH ATTLEBORO - The town's popular Santa parade was the second of three events held in the area of town hall on Sunday (November 27).

The first annual Leftover Turkey Trot, a 5 kilometer road race and walk, kicked off the busy day when it started at 11 a.m. on South Washington Street near the Community School.

The route proceeded to Metcalf Road, right onto Westside Road, right onto Arnold Road, right onto Roosevelt Avenue, left onto Broadway, right onto High Street, right onto North Washington Street, onto South Washington before ending at the driveway leading into town hall.

Brady King, 16, of North Attleboro won the race and was the top male with a time of 18:34. William Atwood, 19, also from North Attleboro was second at 19:12. Tanner Silva, 14, of Attleboro was third at 20:14.

Kimberly Chula-Maguire, 47, of Cumberland won the women's race with a time of 20:15. Ashley O'Connell, 30, of Windham, Connecticut, was a second behind at 20:16. Cheryl Sullivan, 48, of North Attleboro finished third with a time of 21:17/

Town Manager Michael Borg, who placed 45th overall with a time 25:18, visited North TV on Wednesday to discuss the successful day.
