Another hotel proposed for Rt. One

NORTH ATTLEBORO - Another new hotel may be coming to Route One near Showcase Cinemas.

The Planning Board held a public hearing during its virtual meeting Thursday night about a special permit to construct a 94-room hotel at 777 South Washington Street.

Longtime North Attleboro residents know the site as the former home of Rattey’s Buttered Hamburgers. In recent years, the property was home to a motorcycle dealer and lawn and tractor repair company.

Pioneer Management is hoping to receive the necessary permits to build the hotel. It would be the second new hotel in a quarter-mile stretch of South Washington Street. A four-story hotel is under construction off of Draper Avenue behind Appelbee's Restaurant in a former parking lot next to the cinemas.

Thursday night’s virtual meeting of the Planning Board can be seen in its entirety through Thursday on North TV’s Government Channel: Comcast channel 98 and Verizon channel 23.
