Hamilton leads busy school meeting as new chair

NORTH ATTLEBORO - A new chairman, the return of students to the classroom and the search for a new superintendent highlighted Wednesday's virtual meeting of the new school committee.

It was the first meeting after Tasha Buzzell, Kathryn Hobbs and Joseph Flaherty were elected to the board on Tuesday.

The first item on the agenda was the election of Ethan Hamilton as chairman. Hamilton will lead the committee through the April 2022 town election.

Assistant superintendent Michelle McKeon updated the committee on the return of students to their classrooms five days a week. North Attleboro was one of the first districts across the state to bring students back full-time.

The committee later discussed the search for a new superintendent. Current superintendent Scott Holcomb announced last month that he will be retiring in August.

Wednesday’s virtual meeting of the North Attleboro school committee can be seen in its entirety through Thursday on North TV’s Government Channel: Comcast channel 98 and Verizon channel 23.
