COVID-19 claims 'Restaurant Day' fundraiser

NORTH ATTLEBORO - The coronavirus has claimed another local event.

State Representative Betty Poirier’s annual “Betty’s Angels Restaurant Day” will not be held this year.

This would have been the eighth consecutive year local restaurants helped raise money for Lenore’s Pantry by donating a portion of sales on a given day. More than $46,000 had been raised in the previous seven years.

Poirier was obviously disappointed but realizes the strain restaurants are under due to the restrictions put in place to battle COVID-19. She urged residents to support their favorite restaurants.

The veteran representative, who is not seeking reelection, participated in 266 out of 267 roll call votes recorded in the House between January 30, 2019 and July 31, 2020 - a remarkable percentage of 99.6 percent
