Bernier retires after two decades in town hall

NORTH ATTLEBORO - Town hall has lost another longtime employee and the wealth of knowledge she brings with her.

Solid waste director Michele Bernier’s last day was Friday, deciding to retire after spending the last couple of decades serving the town in a variety of roles.

In addition to Bernier, former town administrator and then interim town manager Michael Gallagher retired on June 30, police chief John Reilly stepped down last month, Kevin Poirier retired when his term as town clerk expired in April and school superintendent Scott Holcomb will be leaving to become the principal at Taunton High School next month.

Bernier, who served as interim town administrator after Jay Moynihan moved to North Attleborough Electric, sat down with North TV for an exclusive interview on Monday.
