NORTH ATTLEBORO - When former school committee member Sarah Stone (middle in photo) and her family moved to North Carolina over the summer it not only left a huge void on the town' school committee where she served as vice president, it also left the non-profit she founded, Our Open Umbrella, without a leader.
The volunteer-driven group serves the greater North Attleboro area, supporting students and families in need through a school supply program, as well as providing emergency assistance in partnership with other community organizations.
Jenn Spaulding (left in photo) stepped up to be the new president of Our Open Umbrella and Kevin McCarthy (right in photo) will serve as the vice president.
The two visited North TV’s green studio last week to discuss the loss of Stone and the nonprofit moving forward.
