PLAINVILLE - A citizens’ petition to expand the select board from three to five members was overwhelmingly defeated at Monday night's annual town meeting at the Wood School.
The petition was the final article for a second straight year.
Residents narrowly passed an article last year to have the proposal considered.
Maggie Clark, who served a three-year term on the board until April's election, presented the article and why she felt the change was needed.
