Poirier in minority on police reform

NORTH ATTLEBORO - Passage of a controversial bill to change law enforcement in Massachusetts passed in the House of Representative by a vote of 92-67.

The compromise bill also passed in the Senate 28-12.

Gov. Charlie Baker can either sign the bill as is, send it back to the legislature with amendments or simply veto it.

The 67 votes against the bill in the House would be enough to sustain the veto.

State Representative Betty Poirier was one of the 67 voting against the bill. Poirier visited the North TV studio Friday morning to explain why she cast her vote in the negative.
