Test 3

Feehan dominant in home opener

ATTLEBORO - The defending Division 1 state champion Bishop Feehan Shamrocks girls' soccer team continued their offensive onslaught Tuesday night with a 7-0 victory over Ursuline Academy at McGrath Stadium.

The home win follows a 4-0 season opening win on the road against new Catholic Central League rival Bishop Fenwick this past Saturday.

As was the case on the weekend, the Shamrocks were powered by a standout performance from senior forward Francesca Yanchuck. Fifteen minutes into the contest, Yanchuck showed off her superior ball control and acceleration by breezing past a defender before rounding Ursuline goalkeeper Nikki Olson to give Feehan a 1-0 lead.

Moments later, Yanchuck was the architect of Feehan’s second goal; a powerful run down the right wing opened space for her to deliver a low cross to Mikayla Dorrer on the back post. Dorrer poked the ball into the net to double the Shamrocks lead.

Yanchuck added two more goals in the contest, marking her second hat trick in as many games. Feehan’s all time leading goal scorer now sits at 115 career goals and was named North TV’s Player of the Game.

Kaitryn Franchino, Kileigh Gorman, and Brianna Marrero also chipped in with goals in the win.

The Shamrocks (2-0) are back in action on Columbus Day, Monday October 12th, at home against Catholic Central League opponent Austin Prep.
