Police seek help in identifying Speedway robber

NORTH ATTLEBORO - Police are trying to identify a man who robbed the 24-hour Speedway gas station in the downtown area Thursday morning.

The Sun Chronicle reported the robbery was reported about 3 a.m. after the robber fled the gas station and convenience story at 154 North Washington Street.

He was last seen walking across the street toward Fisher Street, according to police.

The robber had his head wrapped in a shirt which obscured his face and kept his hands in his pockets, raising concern about a possible weapon but none was shown, police Captain Jason Roy told the newspaper.

The robber, believed to be a white male about 5-feet 8-inches tall, approached the counter and told the clerk to give him everything in the drawer, Roy said.

The man did not utter any threats and left the store with an undisclosed amount of cash after the clerk complied to his demands.

Police released photos from a security camera inside the store.

If anyone has information that will aid in identifying the suspect, they are urged to contact the North Attleboro Police Department at 508-695-1212.
