NORTH ATTLEBORO - Town councilors failed to reach the two-thirds majority needed to pass a measure that would compensate members of appointed boards and committees.
Town Manager Mike Borg requested $65,000 from Fiscal Year 26 certified free cash to fund stipend compensation for members of town manager-appointed board and committee members and residents appointed to town council subcommittees.
The measure would have paid board-elected chairs $50 per meetings and $40 for all other members.
Five councilors voted to approve the measure and three voted against it, one shy of the six needed.
Councilor Mark Gould missed the meeting.
