Peri earns POTW honors in big win

NORTH ATTLEBORO - The last week in January was a busy one for the North TV sports crew with five games in as many nights.

We kicked off the week in the King Philip gymnasium on Tuesday night, Jan. 27, when the hometown Warriors lost their ninth game against only five wins in a 60-38 crushing at the hands of  Canton.

Our crew was in the Pickering Gymnasium the next night for North Attleboro’s 48-27 wrestling win over Foxboro on senior night. The Red Rocketeers clinched the Davenport Division title with the win.

We were back at NAHS Friday night for a basketball doubleheader.

The North girls smothered Stoughton 53-13 in the opener for their ninth win of the season and the Red Rocketeers took the nightcap, as well, with a 63-41 bashing of the Black Knights.

We closed out the week Saturday night at Franklin’s Pirelli Arena, where Tri-County skated past Attleboro in boys’ hockey 4-1 to move one game over .500 with only two games remaining.

Our Player of the Week comes from Friday night’s boys’ basketball game.

Although he wasn’t the leading scorer, North senior guard Parker Peri came close to a double-double in North’s 22-point win.

The tri-captain, wearing number-1, had 9 points and 9 rebounds. Here are some of his highlights.

Parker will receive a copy of the match against Foxboro on a USB drive and a Player of the Week t-shirt in Red Rocketeer red.

We’ll announce our Player of the Week from this week’s five games next week at this time.
