NORTH ATTLEBORO - There are less than two weeks remaining in Fiscal Year 2026 with major changes scheduled for the new year.
North Attleboro will begin offering town employees and retirees new health insurance starting January 1, 2027 in an effort to save the town and employees money in the face of soaring health insurance costs.
The town council unanimously approved the move from Blue Cross Blue Shield to plans offered by the Massachusetts Group Insurance Commission through the end of Fiscal Year 2030.
Not only will the change in plans save money, additional savings should result by the move to no longer cover GLP-1 weight loss drugs.
Town Manager Michael Borg discussed the impact of those drugs on healthcare costs during the June recording of "The Town Manager's Report."

That interview with Michael Borg can be seen in its entirety on North TV’s Government Channel: Comcast channel 98 and Verizon channel 23 in North Attleboro.
