COVID cases dropping in North, Plainville

BOSTON - COVID numbers in the two towns North TV serves decreased again for the two-week period ending Wednesday, according to data released Thursday night by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.

North Attleboro recorded a positivity rate of 15.76 percent of the 2,487 tests performed over the last two weeks. That percentage equals 370 new cases over the past two weeks.

The rate was 22.18 percent last week or 601 new cases, 25.19 percent two weeks ago or 833 new cases, and 25.98 three weeks back or 869 new cases.

Plainville’s positivity rate was 15.15 percent of the 825 tests performed over the past two weeks. That percentage equals 115 new cases over the past two weeks.

The rate was 19.12 percent last week or 169 new cases, 23.29 two weeks ago or 259 new cases, 24.28 percent three weeks back or 278 new cases.

North Attleboro and Plainville are still higher than the state rate of 10.06 percent. That number was 15.33 percent last week.

The reduction in the number of cases was the main topic when Plainville Health Director Deborah Revelle reported to the town's board of health Tuesday night at town hall.
