NORTH ATTLEBORO - We are following up on a story first reported last week about a post on the DPW website.
The story detailed a laboratory issue during routine water sample testing last year at the town’s Hillman Treatment Plant, at the site of the former Girl Scout Camp Shady Pines.
It resulted in the water department not receiving proper notification from the lab of possible coliform in the water.
Since the laboratorty failed to notify the water department, the DPW did not collect the required repeat samples or conduct a Level 1 Assessment by August 3, 2023, which resulted in a Treatment Technique Violation and required a notice to be mailed to customers this month.
North TV spoke to DPW Mark Hollowell about the issue at the treatment plant on Tuesday.
