Plainridge revenue impacts Plainville

PLAINVILLE - The revenue totals for Plainridge Park Casino for the month of September were released this week and the numbers were not good.

The state’s only slots parlor reported revenue of just over $9.4 million last month, down nearly $800,000 from the $10.2 million Plainridge posted in August.

Plainridge posted $11.2 million dollars in September of 2019.

Those numbers represent gross revenue, which is the total amount of money wagered minus the winnings paid out.

After years of receiving a guaranteed annual payment, Plainville (as the casino’s host community) on July 1 started receiving a share of Plainridge’s gross revenue. Declining revenue on Route 1, therefore, impacts town finances.

Plainridge was one many issues Plainville Town Adminstrator Jennifer Thompson discussed with North TV on Thursday when she recorded her bimonthly “The Town Administrator’s Report."

The program is currently cablecasting on North TV’s Plainville Channel: Comcast channel 8.
