Lifting of ban no issue in storm

NORTH ATTLEBORO - It’s was quite a week in local weather.

Days after several inches of snow hit the area, heavy rain caused flooding on a number of North Attleboro streets.

A post on the town’s Facebook page advised community members of several roads impacted: the CVS to Chestnut Street, Route 1 in front of Cumberland Farms, Towne Street at John Dietsch Boulevard, John Dietsch at American Firearms School, Chestnut at East Street and 21 East Apartments, East Washington Street and Elmwood Avenue, Route 120 by South Washington Street, 825 South Washington Street to Honda, Rosana Avenue, North Washington Street by Achin’s Garage, the front of Achin’s Garage and Route 120 at the fields.

The bad news is that recent weather patterns will result in more flooding like this, beginning with this weekend.

The good news is the lifting of the seasonal parking ban from December 1 through March 31 and notifying residents when a temporary ban is put in place was a success during last weekend's snowstorm.

North Attleboro police issued only five parking violation tickets between 3:30 and 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, a number that is consistent with storms in past years.
