Test 3

Newth earns POG honors in season finale

HOPKINTON - The North TV sports crew brought viewers three games – all playoff games – last week.

We were in Hopkinton for boys’ soccer on Wednesday. North Attleboro lost to the Hillers 3-2 in the Division 2 Round of 16.

We were in nearby Milford Friday for a Division 3 football quarterfinal. North Attleboro hung with the favored Scarlet Hawks throughout the game before falling 24-17.

A second North TV crew was in Wrentham Friday night for King Philip’s 31-3 whipping of Winchester in the Division-2 football quarterfinals to advance to Thursday night’s semifinal against Barnstable in Weymouth.

The Warriors blew out Barnstable 41-21 Thursday in a game that wasn’t as close as it sounds. King Philip advances to the Super Bowl at Gillette Stadium in two weeks for the third straight year and six out of the last seven.

Our North TV Player of the Week for those two games is Bryce Newth. North Attleboro’s senior forward, wearing number 28, had a strong game in the loss to Hopkinton by scoring in the 63rd minute to be named our North TV Player of the Week.

Bryce will receive a copy of Friday’s win and a Player of the Week shirt in North Attleboro red. We’ll announce our tenth Player of the Week next week at this time.
