Sun Chronicle's Kessler dies at 71

NORTH ATTLEBORO - Former Sun Chronicle news editor and columnist Larry Kessler died unexpectedly early Thursday morning.

Kessler, who lived in North Attleboro with his wife, Lynne Cains, was the father of two daughters – Arianna, 27, and Alana, 23.

Kessler died at Sturdy Memorial Hospital after being rushed there because of sudden breathing difficulties, his wife told The Sun Chronicle.

He had just returned home Tuesday from spending a short time in the hospital after falling ill.

Cains said he was battling a bleeding ulcer and low hemoglobin numbers.

At one point, his wife added, he had a transfusion of five units of blood.

Kessler was active in a number of local charities.

He was a guest on North TV’s “Inside Look” promoting the area’s annual Relay for Life event.

Larry Kessler was 71 years old.
