Test 3

TD, Super Bowl POGs announced

NORTH ATTLEBORO - Three Red Rocketeers and two Warriors make up our final Players of the Game for the fall season.

North TV was on the road with King Philip on November 19 for the Division 2 semifinal game at Brockton’s Marciano Stadium, a 31-16 win by the Warriors over Milford. Senior Crawford Cantave, number 1, rushed for 96 yards on 11 carries, including touchdown runs of 70 and three yards to be named our North TV Player of the Game.

We were in action the next day for the Division 3 semifinal at Quincy’s Veterans Memorial Stadium where North Attleboro defeated Billerica 28-10. Junior Greg Berthiaume, number-44, had a big game at linebacker forcing fumble and recovery after a Red Rocketeers’ turnover with the game on the line early in the second half. The play was a turning point and one of the reasons Greg was the North TV Player of the Game.

Thanksgiving Day is about tradition and it's North TV's tradition to name the recipient of the Most Outstanding Trophy the North TV Player of the Game. That honor went to Tyler Bannon, number-25, who guided the Red Rocketeers’ defense, while also rushing for 80-yards on 13 carries. On a side note, Tyler’s dad, Pat, was also named the Thanksgiving Day outstanding player 30 years ago.

North TV was at Gillette Stadium Thursday afternoon for North’s 35-28 loss to Marblehead in the Division 3 Super Bowl. Junior Jack Munley, number-84, was selected as the North TV Player of the Game. The sure-handed tight end had two receptions for 31 yards, but was most valuable clearing running room for Bannon and Tyler DeMattio, including a key block on North’s third touchdown, a 5-yard run by Bannon.

The final game of the fall season was King Philip’s 42-18 loss to Catholic Memorial later Thursday night in the Division-2 Super Bowl. One of KP's unsung heroes throughout the season, William Astorino, number 24, was named the North TV Player of the Game. The linebacker helped force a fumble early in the game when Catholic Memorial was set to score a touchdown. Doubling as a fullback, Astorino made a big block on KP’s first touchdown, a 4-yard run by Ryan Gately.

Crawford, Greg, Tyler, Jack and William will each receive personalized DVDs of their games and a Player of the Game t-shirt in their school colors.

A special thank you and best of luck to the seniors in all of the fall sports we’ve had the pleasure to cover over the past four years.
